Project Leonidas – Wholesale CBDC within interbank reconciliation network
R3, together with ABI Lab (the Research and Innovation centre for Banks), ABI (Italian Banking Association) and NTT Data Italia, have been selected by the Bank of Italy and its Innovation Hub for this ground-breaking project. Its purpose is to explore and develop wholesale Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) capabilities within the Spunta Banca DLT solution, a critical infrastructure of Italy’s financial ecosystem. Working in close collaboration, R3 aims to leverage the collective knowledge and synergistic capabilities to create a robust, efficient, and future-ready CBDC solution.
