Responsibiltiies:
- Work hands-on in diverse customer environments (Cloud and on-Premises), following customer-mandated processes.
- Understand customer requirements and provide guidance on which deployment strategy satisfies those best.
- Define best practices for all future Professional Service deployment activities. Be the expert in this field, constantly advocating for adherence to these practices.
- Create reference implementation of automated Cloud Infrastructure and software deployments that are meticulously engineered so your colleagues in the field can rely on them.
- Rapidly install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools for all environments under change control/configuration management.
- Quickly and correctly diagnose issues with environments, including identifying patterns that could indicate a security threat.
- Support the execution of tests and other activities on testing environments, including liaising with customers and associated project management and planning.
- Deploy and operate internal/external testing environments.
- Create, update and own environment configuration documentation.
- Ensure parity between environments, where applicable.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain and operate security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of current technologies and trends in networking, hosting, operations.
- Liaise with vendors, customers, team members and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

- Provide recommendations on site reliability, specifically around monitoring and alerting.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, understanding scalability and disaster recovery.
- Provide feedback to engineering teams on how to improve our product based to ensure optimal deployability.
Qualifications:
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux based environments, preferably for a financial services institution
- Experience of deploying, using and managing the Atlassian tool set (Jira, Service Desk etc).
- Demonstrated commercial experience with medium to large scale Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with taking an infrastructure deployment from inception to production
- Strong Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud)
- Solid networking knowledge
- Solid understanding and experience of security engineering
- Experience with scripting languages as well as a polyglot attitude that welcomes picking up new languages if necessary (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
- Desired: Experience with concerns of site reliability (e.g., experience with metrics/monitoring/alerting)
- Desired: Experience with decentralised systems such as Blockchain
